2017 SCORRA Board of Directors

Brad Obee - President

Role: The President provides leadership and direction to all activities of the Association, the Executive Board and all standing and ad hoc committees.

This includes:
  • Presiding over all meetings of the Executive Board of Directors.
  • Providing an annual report to the membership, at the Annual General meeting, regarding the prior years year’s activities.
  • Overseeing the governance of the organization and ensuring that the
  • organizations Bylaws & Constitution are followed
  • Providing managerial direction on the primary functions of the organization and the activities of the executive board

SCORRA History: Brad has been a SCORRA member since 2006 when the club was founded. Looking to become more involved in the sport and the club he joined the Board as Treasurer in 2008, and has been serving as Club President for the past 7 years.
Nickname: Obee-Wan Kenobe
Biography: Brad's current ride is a 2017 KTM 300XCW. He caught dirt bike fever late in life and hasn't looked back since. In 2006 he bought his son a dirt bike for Christmas, and promptly bought himself a DT200 so they could ride together. Having just turned 50 he's still able to keep ahead of his son but not for long. His favorite ride is the Midhurst Trial Ride which he has chaired since 2012, and one day hopes to actually be able to ride the event. For some unknown reason, Brad has a phobia about trilliums!



Don Moore - Vice-President & OFTR Representative

Role: The Vice-President's role includes:
  • Providing advice, counsel and support to the president
  • In the event of the President’s is unavailable or unable to perform their duties, assuming on an interim basis the duties of the president.
The OFTR Board Representative duties include:
  • Liasing with the OFTR
  • Attending OFTR meetings as the SCORRA representative
  • Presenting SCORRA issues, concerns and wishes to the OFTR in an official capacity
  • Communicate OFTR goals, directions and plans back to the SCORRA Board

SCORRA History: Don has been on the Board on and off since 2011 and is a very active SCORRA volunteer.

He's been a member since SCORRA was founded back in 2006.
Nickname: Orange Koolaid
Biography: Don is 46 years young and has been riding for over 30 years. His first real bike was a 1975 Suzuki TS75 Colt. His current bike is a 2017 KTM 300XCW. Don's favourite trail ride is the Calabogie Boogie followed by the Midhurst Trail Ride. He's looking forward to spending time riding with "Mini-Me" on his KX100 this year.



Andrzej Taramina - Secretary & Director of Communications

Role: The Secretary serves as the scribe for Association meetings and custodian of its records. The Secretary's duties includes:
  • Recording and distributing agenda’s for and minutes of the Executive Board’s meetings
  • Maintaining the Articles of Incorporation, Constitution, By-Laws, and Policies and Procedures of the Association
As Director of Communications, Andrzej is responsible for:
  • Online and Social Media Channels, including web site, Forum, Facebook, Twitter, Newsletters and other channels
  • Membership Management and interface with the OFTR Membership System

SCORRA History: Andrzej has been on the board in the past and is a very active SCORRA volunteer.

Andrzej has been responsible for SCORRA's online presence, including the web site, Forum, Facebook, Twitter and email Newsletters for many years now. He has also implemented and managed the SCORRA Online Trail Maps system. Recently, he integrated SCORRA's systems with the newly enhanced OFTR membership system. He's been a member since 2008, and is the current Drury Trail Lead. Andrzej started the Neoride program for beginner riders last year, and hopes to expand the scope of that program in 2017.
Nickname: Purple Beast
Biography: Andrzej is 60 years young and has been riding dirt bikes for just over a decade, having been a long distance street bike rider for many years prior to catching the dirt bug. He rides a highly customized, purple 2006 YZ250 2-stroke. Andrzej's long term goal is to make Drury a complete loop, with separate out and back single track routes. He especially likes to ride when the trilliums are out in the Spring!



Jeff Weersink - Treasurer

Role: The Treasurer oversees and manages the Association’s financial matters. The Treasurer duties generally include:
  • Maintaining appropriate controls over the organizations finances including an annual budget, and appropriate records of receipts and expenditures.
  • Maintaining the Association’s membership list
  • Receiving and disbursing moneys of the Association.
  • Submitting financial reports to the Executive at each meeting
  • Preparing financial statements for the Annual General Meeting
  • Leading the creation and submission of any loan or grant applications for the association.

SCORRA History: Jeff joined SCORRA almost 9 years ago and has been a more active member in the last few years. He was on the Board as Treasurer last year.
Nickname: Jiffy Jeffy
Biography: Jeff is 50 years old and started riding a Honda xr75 when he was about 10. He had a few dirt bikes when he was younger but after high school priorities changed and no bikes until about 10 years ago. He enjoys the odd race and like every year he hopes to do a few more xc races and maybe even an enduro this year (vet B hoping to get to vet A before he starts slowing down). Favourite trail ride is the Calboogie, more rocks and hills than we have in Simcoe. Like a few of the other board members he is fortunate enough to be riding a new bike this year but picked a different colour. He will be on a 2017 Husqvarna TX300. His favourite Simcoe tract is Horseshoe and hopefully some day we can get Orr Lake to be similar to it. Jeff likes to ride inside!



Chris Zanelli - Lead Trail Steward

Role: The Lead Trail Steward serves as the Associations primary contact for all matters pertaining to our trail system and trail agreements. The Lead Trail Steward's duties include:
  • Acting as the Chair of the trail committee and presiding over all trail committee meetings
  • Acting as chair of the Stewardship committee and presiding over all Stewardship committee meetings.
  • Maintaining a record of all trail and stewardship activities and providing a quarterly submission to the County of Simcoe and to all municipal partners within the County of Simcoe regarding stewardship activities
  • Acting as primary representative of the association at various Trail User Group meetings and associations.
  • Providing direction and coordination to all efforts made by the Association to ensure compliance to the trail usage agreement with the County of Simcoe and any private use agreements.
  • Report to the Executive Board at the monthly executive meetings.
  • Providing advice and direction related to proper trail usage for the associations trail riding events

SCORRA History: Chris has been a SCORRA member for many years. He was a Scorra board member from 2011 - 2015.
Nickname: Z-Boy
Biography: Chris is 47 years old. His first bike was a 1978 Z50 and 40 years later he still looks forward to swinging his leg over his bike. His current ride is a 2017 KTM 300XCW. Chris is a competitive racer with Off-road Ontario racing in the Vet AA class. His favorite trail ride is the Calabogie Boogie and his favorite race is the Corduroy Enduro. He enjoys the more technical bike breaking rides. Chris is fortunate that his son also has the passion for motorcycles which has allowed then to share many special memories and make a lot of great new friends along the way.



Alan Young - Director at Large & Sponsorship Liason

Role: The Director at Large duties include:
  • Providing technical knowledge and advice
  • Participating on various committees formed by the executive as needed
  • Engaging current membership to solicit interest and improvements to the activities and events of the organization
  • Facilitating the organization of a special guest or event for each club meeting

SCORRA History: Alan has been a SCORRA member for a few years now. This is his first year on the SCORRA Board.
Nickname: Al
Biography: Alan is 54 years old and rides a 2010 YZ125 "tweaked" machine. He rides for fun. Alan also falls down a lot.



Scott McArthur - Director at Large & Adopt-A-Trail

Role: The Director at Large duties include:
  • Providing technical knowledge and advice
  • Participating on various committees formed by the executive as needed
  • Engaging current membership to solicit interest and improvements to the activities and events of the organization
  • Facilitating the organization of a special guest or event for each club meeting
Scott also is heading up the Adopt-A=Trail program:
  • Promoting the Adopt-A-Trail program
  • Supporting Trail Team Leads
  • Helping increase volunteers on individual Trail Teams
  • Trail Lead for Williams/Orrock tracts

SCORRA History: Scott has been a SCORRA member for a few years now. He was an active member of the Drury Trail Team, but has been promoted to Trail Lead for Williams/Orrock. This is Scott's first year on the SCORRA Board.
Nickname: Scottie
Biography: Scott is 43 years old. His first dirt bike was a 1980 Yamaha MX100 at the age of 11 years old. It was a great experience. His friends mom's boyfriend raced dirt bikes in the super cross and Scott got to be his shop monkey, so he learned how to wrench and ride different dirt bikes from an early age. He fell out of bikes for a while but got back into it in his late 30s and realized how much he missed it. The riding Scott really enjoys the most is the challenging and technical stuff. You will see Scott out climbing some hills, hopping some logs or looking for that rock pile. He rides a 2007 GASAGAS 300 and loves it. Don't hesitate to ask Scott to go riding or stop him for a few questions. His house backs onto the William's tract so he rides there alot! See you on the trails!



Peter Klassen - Director at Large

Role: The Director at Large duties include:
  • Providing technical knowledge and advice
  • Participating on various committees formed by the executive as needed
  • Engaging current membership to solicit interest and improvements to the activities and events of the organization
  • Facilitating the organization of a special guest or event for each club meeting

SCORRA History: Peter has been a SCORRA member for over 9 years. This is his second year on the Board. He's also on the Orr Lake Trail Team.
Nickname: Peter, Peter 4-Stroke Beater
Biography: Peter is 58 years old, going on 17! He loves to ride and race. Vet A XC racer, as well as a few motocross races every year. His ride is a '05 CRF450. First race was the 1981 Sasquatch XC in Hope, BC and have been racing every year since. Enjoys laying out and clearing new and existing trails, one of several responsible for the Orr Lake tract. Loves spirited romps and inpromptu races/chases thru tight, technical singletrack. Peter is an avid mountain biker, but don't try to keep up with him on an MTB, unless you want your legs to ache for days!
