Trails are CLOSED for the season and will reopen May 1 2025.

Ride Requirements

The rules of the off-road.

You Must:

Have a valid membership in the OFTR.

  • If you regularly ride in Simcoe County, please designate SCORRA as your local club when signing up.
  • Know where you are riding, don’t trespass and stay on designated trails.
  • Ride in control and observe a 50kmph speed limit.
  • Respect and expect other trail users.
  • Abide by our Code of Conduct.

Riders must at all times abide by the Off-Road Vehicle Act (ORVA) when on trails and the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) when riding on the road.

The ORVA (4.2, 4.2b) requires that children under the age of 12 are only permitted to ride on trails under close supervision of an adult.

Operation of an off-road motorcycle (ORM) on roads is permitted in Ontario and in the municipalities in which SCORRA operates but only on certain roads. Within Simcoe County, RideOFTR shows connector roads from trail head to trail head where ORMs are permitted. Remember that ORMs are motorcycles with green plates that must be affixed to the front number plate of the motorcycle.

  • Under the ORVA, ATVs and ORMs are treated the same with respect to riding on roads
  • When traveling on public roads with green plate single file on the right side of paved surface if there is one. Do not ride on the shoulder.
  • Keep both wheels on the ground and show that we are respectful to local residents and other drivers and help preserve the opportunity we have fought for within Ontario
  • If the posted speed limit is greater than 50 km/h you can go 50 km/h.  If the posted limit is 50 km/h or less you can go 20 km/h
  • ORMs are not permitted on all roads. Specifically in Simcoe County, ORMs are not permitted on Provincial Highway 26 and County Roads (e.g. Horseshoe Valley Road). In addition, many other roads are closed by municipalities to ORMs
  • To be certain, consult the RideOFTR app which shows legal road connector routes that can be used within the context of the ORVA
  • Operators must be age 16 or order and must have a valid drivers license (M1 or M2 motorcycle license is strongly recommended by SCORRA but is not required)
  • Please turn on the front head light of your bike if equipped with such to increase visibility

Your Bike Must be:

  • Licensed (Green off-road plate on front, or Blue street plate on rear).
  • Insured.
  • Quiet (94 db or less). Don’t annoy our neighbors, and risk losing access to trails. Loud Bikes Suck!
  • Equipped with a spark arrestor.

On your behalf and with your assistance Your Club also:

  • Maintains and stewards the trails.
  • Liaises with the county, municipalities, and other trail users.

Remember:

  • If you ride without a trail pass you are trespassing.
  • Trails are stewarded by the police and bylaw enforcement officers…. you will be charged.
  • Ride legal and encourage those you ride with to do the same.
